Dirt Sheet Radio has picked up on the NWA National title controversy"Pro Wrestling Epic (Alton, IL) is running with the NWA National Championship against the wishes of the NWA after the promotion booked NWA contracted wrestler Cyon for an National Championship match with co-owner Lenny Mephisto. Cyon pulled-out and Mephisto decided to name himself NWA National Champion as they had already received the title belt from the NWA in advance of the match. The NWA has since threatened the promotion with legal action." COMMENT: I don’t think the belt was sent ahead of time, if it were I would think the belt would had appeared back in December...but the other question would be why was the champion not keeping the belt with him? Also, where was Cyon on the day he was supposed to defend the title on December 2nd? EDIT: While I thought he was doing his podcast live, it was uploaded the same day as the event but pretaped at an unknown time with Joe Alonzo who plugged and DID wrestle at PWE that night. As of today, video of the belt presentation were posted with the title pixeled out, anticipating a federal lawsuit.
